The Ultimate Pic-Time to WordPress Blogging Workflow Using StyleCloud

Introduction To The Pic-Time Gallery plugin

If you have activated our Pic-Time gallery plugin in your WordPress website, then you’ll already know how handy it is to have all of your Pic-Time image at your fingertips, right inside your StyleCloud website. 

You can display Pic-Time images on any page or blog post and even import your Pic-Time images into your WordPress Media Library to make sure your SEO is on point.

1. Install the StyleCloud Pic-Time gallery plugin and connect to your Pic-Time account

Install the plugin via your WordPress Plugins area and then go to the PicTime Set Up area in the left hand menu. Enter the license provided with your download and then connect to your Pic-Time account.

The whole process takes just a minute to complete.

2. Set Up A Pic-Time gallery to store your favourite images from every shoot

Before you start working with the integration, one of our top tips is to create a gallery in Pic-Time where you can add your favourite images from every shoot that you upload. This will make updating your portfolio easy to do on the fly, inside StyleCloud. It will also save you time when it comes to creating an end-of-year round up post. Nice!

3. Set Your Watermark Option in Pic-Time to Flexible

If you are using the Pic-Time watermark option on any of your galleries, choosing the Flexible setting means that your watermark will still show on your Pic-Time galleries, but that it won’t be imported when you import from Pic-Time into your WordPress website. 

4. Use the Kadence Advanced Gallery Block on any page or post to access your Pic-Time images. 

The beauty of using StyleCloud is that you have over 350 layouts and sections which you can use on blog posts as well as pages and which make extensive use of the Pic-Time enabled Kadence Advanced Gallery block. 

And of course, you can insert the Kadence Advanced Gallery block anywhere on any page or post to import your Pic-Time images. 

You can replace any image block with the Kadence Gallery block to display single or multiple images and choose from several gallery styles, as well as having full control over the layout, size, aspect ratio, number of columns and gallery animation. It’s a versatile, elegant WordPress gallery solution and we love it. 

Simply click on the Pic-Time symbol on the Advanced Gallery Block and you’ll be able to select images from ant of your Pic-Time galleries. 

Once you have selected your Pic-Time images, you have two options. You can choose to simply display your images directly from Pic-Time. 

But the recommended workflow is to import your images into your WordPress website. They will be automatically resized for web (at 1600 pixels wide) and will be imported in your gallery block and your WordPress Media Library, preserving the file name to boost your SEO.

6. Add an AI Plugin to automatically create alt text for your blog images

Alt text (alternative text) is a short, descriptive text that you add to images on your website. It helps in two key ways:

1. Accessibility – Screen readers use alt text to describe images to visually impaired users, making your website more inclusive.
2. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – Search engines can’t “see” images the way humans do, but they can read alt text. Well-written alt text helps search engines understand your content, improving your site’s ranking in search results.

If you often forget to create alt text for your images, or you just don’t have time, we recommend the AI Alt Text Generator plugin. 

As you import your images from Pic-Time, the plugin will automatically generate accurate descriptive alt tags for all of your images.

The plugin is free to install but you do need to subscribe to their very low cost plan to purchase some credits ($4 per month for 250 credits). However you can try the plugin with a free trial when you open an account (you don’t even need a credit card). 

We think it’s worthwhile investment in terms of the SEO benefits and the time it saves. 

7. Add an image compression plugin to resize or convert your images as you import

As previously mentioned, your Pic-Time images will be imported at 1600px wide. File sizes will vary but will be appropriate for web usage. 

However, you may wish to compress them further, or resize them exactly to fit the width of your blog post, for example. 

For image compression, we use and recommend the ShortPixel plugin. It allows you to significantly reduce your file sizes without affecting the quality of your images. We suggest using the Glossy setting when compressing.

Not only does ShortPixel compress your images as they are imported, it allows you to set an exact image width for resizing. If you prefer your file sizes to be as small as possible, resizing to the exact display width of your blog can improve page load speed. 

You can toggle the resizing setting on and off at any time. 

Finally, ShortPixel can also convert your images from jpeg to more Google-friendly formats like WebP and AVIF. You can open an account to get free credits and either buy blocks of credits or subscribe monthly. Both the one-time and subscriptions plans are very affordable.
