Ambassador Spotlight: Petar Jurica – A Conversation About Photography, Craft & Branding

Petar Jurica homepage hero - Vida - StyleCloud

Petar Jurica is a documentary wedding and portrait photographer based in Croatia, with 26 years behind the lens and a body of work that reads less like a portfolio and more like a collection of short films. His images have taken him across the world, from editorial assignments for Croatia’s biggest lifestyle magazines to destination weddings on multiple continents. You can find his work at petarjurica.com.

We were thrilled to sit down with Petar after completing his website build for a conversation about photography, craft and branding. Petar is one of our favourite photographers, and working on his site was genuinely one of those projects we loved doing. We got to talk a little about his journey, from his very first days behind a camera to the educator and storyteller he is today, and about the work we’ve done together.

Grab a cuppa and listen to the full interview below, and keep reading for the standout insights and practical takeaways. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Petar Jurica: The Interview

There are photographers who fall into weddings, and there are photographers who find something in them they weren’t expecting. Petar is definitely the second kind. He started out as a photojournalist, spending his formative years learning from one of Croatia’s most respected portrait photographers, shooting famous faces for a leading lifestyle magazine. When the print industry contracted and he needed to supplement his income, weddings came into the picture.

What he found in wedding photography surprised him.

It wasn’t the couple at the altar that drew him in. It was the parents in the corner. The conversations between old friends. The small details that become something that outlasts the day. Petar talks about photography the way a filmmaker talks about cinema: as a sequence, a story, a language. For someone who describes himself as shy and introverted, it became the clearest way he knew to connect.

Petar is now also an educator, working alongside fellow photographer Marco on Grain, a platform for documentary photography. But even as that side of his work has grown, the same thread runs through all of it: a belief that the pictures people will care about most in twenty years are not necessarily the ones that look coolest on Instagram.

Photography helped me a lot in my life, just to express myself.
It was just my language.

Behind The Build

Petar’s site was built by StyleCloud as a semi-custom project using the Vida theme as the foundation. The website was shaped around his particular blend of editorial restraint and emotional depth. The brief was elegant, timeless and unhurried. Nothing decorative for the sake of it – everything chosen to last.

Below we’ve shared some screenshots of the finished website with a brief explanation of the design decisions made for Petar.

Petar Jurica homepage hero - Vida - StyleCloud
Homepage: The homepage opens with a split-image hero: a dramatic landscape wedding on one side, and an intimate black and white portrait on the other. Petar’s name sits large across both. Immediately, you understand the range. The tagline “Real moments, documented with honesty and art” does the rest.

Homepage: The scrolling layout uses an asymmetric image grid to build atmosphere rather than simply display work. The phrase “documentary style with a touch of editorial” sits at the heart of the page, framed by images that prove it. Nothing decorative for the sake of it; everything chosen to last.
Petar Jurica kind words
About Me page: The Kind Words section on Petar’s about page says a lot in just a few words. A bride lost in a quiet moment, a couple striding across a cinematic desert plain – images that feel lifted from a film rather than a wedding gallery. Oversized type carries the client’s words large and without apology: “You made us laugh and cry at the same time.” The layout doesn’t decorate the testimonials – it amplifies them.

Wedding Gallery Page: “Stories from Weddings” announces itself in type so large it shares space with the images. From a French château to a barefoot beach, each entry is titled like a short film and shot like one too. The layout gives every wedding room to exist on its own terms, unhurried and uncluttered.
Petar Jurica FAQs
FAQ Page: Even the FAQ page has a sense of occasion. A full-bleed image of a bride standing beneath ancient stone arches carries the heading “The Questions That Might Interest You” in sweeping display type. The questions below are practical, but the page never stops feeling like Petar’s world.
