Moving from Flothemes?
If you’re a current Flothemes user, we’re here to help you move your WordPress site safely to an easy, new system whilst keeping your content and SEO settings.
What happened with Flothemes?
Flothemes closed down permanently in September 2023 and withdrew support for all themes from the end of September 2024.
Firstly, don’t panic. This doesn’t mean that your site will disappear overnight, but over time, unsupported themes start to lose functionality and develop security bugs with each WordPress update. So now is the right time to be thinking about which WordPress theme to move to.
Obviously you’ve landed here at StyleCloud, which we feel is the most similar option on the market to Flothemes for photographers, but this isn’t a hard sell. You can follow the advice on this page to move to any WordPress themes.
What are the dangers of not moving from Flothemes…?
SECURITY RISKS
Unsupported themes and plugins without regular updates and security risks can leave your website more vulnerable to hackers and bots.
LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY & SEO RANK
You also run the risk of losing content as new versions of WordPress may prevent Flothemes blocks and features from loading which may affect how Google sees and indexes your website.
LOSS OF CONTENT
One of the best things about Flothemes (the Flexblock) has also turned out to be one of the drawbacks. Your content inside Flexblocks is actually hidden away in custom fields, so when you turn off Flothemes, your content ‘disappears’.

Most hosting companies offer ‘staging’ – the ability to take a copy of your site to work on behind the scenes. It’s usually a one-click process, and it means you’ll be able to keep all of your content, like images, blog posts and SEO settings.
Unpack your content with our Flothemes Migrator plugin
If you’ve used Flothemes ‘Flexblocks’ or Galleries then you might need to extract some of your content using the free plugin we developed. We have a detailed step-by-step video guide and we’re always available to support you.
