What’s happening with Flothemes?

Flothemes closed down permanently in September 2023 and will be withdrawing support for all themes from the end of September 2024.

Firstly, don’t panic. This doesn’t mean that your site will disappear overnight, but over time, unsupported themes start to lose functionality and develop security bugs with each WordPress update. So now is the right time to be thinking about which WordPress theme to move to.

Obviously you’ve landed here at StyleCloud, which we feel is the most similar option on the market to Flothemes for photographers, but this isn’t a hard sell. You can follow the advice on this page to move to any WordPress themes.

KEEP YOUR EXISTING CONTENT & IMAGE LIBRARY

Moving from a WordPress solution to a third party solution like Squarespace, Showit or Wix is going to mean you need to move all of your current content and images manually. As an existing Flothemes user you can migrate to a new WordPress theme fairly easily without losing anything.

KEEP YOUR EXISTING SEO SETTINGS

The best way to redesign your website without losing any SEO settings is to take a complete copy or ‘staging site’ which you can work on behind the scenes. We have a complete step-by-step guide to help you do that quickly and safely and it means you can ‘go live’ at the click of a button.

MAKE SURE YOU NEVER HAVE TO MOVE AGAIN

One of the best things about Flothemes (the Flexblock) has also turned out to be one of the drawbacks. Your content inside Flexblocks is actually hidden away in custom fields, so when you turn off Flothemes, your content ‘disappears’.

Why Kadence and how does it work?

FIRSTLY, WE BELIEVE IT’S THE BEST WORDPRESS SYSTEM FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS RIGHT NOW.

Most hosting companies offer ‘staging’ – the ability to take a copy of your site to work on behind the scenes. It’s usually a one-click process, but if it isn’t, we’ll help you work out a solution or give you a temporary site on our servers.

Unpack your content with our Flothemes Migrator plugin

If you’ve used Flothemes ‘Flexblocks’ or Galleries then you might need to extract some of your content using the free plugin we developed. We have a detailed step-by-step video guide and we’re always available to support you.

Yes, absolutely. All you need is the free Kadence Blocks plugin which is lightweight and won’t slow down your website. It pairs best with the free Kadence theme to use as a base.

You can also invest in the Pro version of Kadence to unlock extra blocks and theme settings.

You will need WordPress hosting for your website but there are no additional costs on top of StyleCloud.

Everything you see in StyleCloud works with the free Kadence theme & blocks plugin.

You can also invest in the Pro version of Kadence to unlock extra blocks and theme settings, but you don’t need to.

StyleCloud runs on the free Kadence system which means it’s infinitely customisable. You can change absolutely everything you see, from colours to custom fonts.

You can easily change the aspect ratio of any image, and wherever you see. an image, you can exchange it for a video.

You can use our layouts and blocks or build your own from scratch.

If you stop subscribing, your website is not affected in any way. Once you’ve installed our themes or layouts into your website, they are yours forever. You simply lose access to installing more.

And there is no need to worry about updates either.
